SF Anthem
I heard this song called “SF Anthem” last time I was in San Francisco (where I currently am now), and it’s definitely grown on me. I think the mixture of San Francisco rap and Summer of Love music (Scott McKenzie’s “San Francisco”) sums me up perfectly — a rough urban childhood and upbringing by former hippie parents. Of course, West Portal is no “HP” or “Fillmoe.” Click play below and have a listen:

I first heard the song tailgating for a basketball game between UNLV and Arizona where several friends who were from the bay area kept playing it. As a fan of both Hip Hop and the Scott McKenzie version the song grew quickly on me and it was also interesting to see how several people from the Bay Area living in Las Vegas rallied with home town pride to sing along to the Scott McKenzie verse during the song. All in all a great song which pays homage to a great city.
I was on my friends myspace page when I heard the SF Anthem. I fell in love with this song right off the start. If I’m by myself or I’m with my friends we’ll play that song becuase we are from the Bay Area. I always play this evreytime I head to the Bay. The song is kick ass. I even have the song as a ringtone
